Funding success for Dance Elders programme 2024!!
Funding success & summary for Dance Elders over 60s programme!
What an exciting way to bring 2023 to an end with our wonderful inspiring Dance Elders programme, but to announce that we have secured funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and Northamptonshire Community Foundation to be able to continue running the programme across 2024!!
This programme continues to be popular and often sold out. However, we have a couple of spaces ready for the taking should you be keen to sign up.
But, I must end the year with a short readable summary about the success of this year’s programme, as we have seen the group flourish and continue to inspire and build community support for one another that has been quite honestly, humbling and heartwarming!
Please read on, for the summary of what has been a magnificent year for the group!…
- Groups performed a dance piece at the Royal & Derngate Theatre for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and participated in two Dance exchange events alongside groups from Coventry and Litchfield. These events included performances, workshops, and social activities, creating a year-long engagement in dance, live music, and filmmaking.
- This holistic approach became a catalyst for participants’ overall well-being, fostering social connections, inspiration, and confidence. The project not only promoted physical health but also addressed mental, social, and emotional aspects, providing a platform for skill development, meaningful connections, and creative expression through dance.
- The project created a visible, engaged community challenging stereotypes, contributing to a positive environment, and involving partners, artists, and audiences. It became a beacon of creative expression, breaking barriers, and offering new perspectives on aging.
- Enriched by a live musician, performance opportunities, and impactful films, the project continued its innovative and collaborative nature. The live musician added a dynamic element, while performances provided motivation and purpose. Films served as powerful testimonials, capturing the profound impact of dance on older individuals and reinforcing the project’s celebration of age and empowerment.
